Questions before getting started?

FAQ’s

  • Your first session will be different from your subsequent sessions. This session will be primarily used to gather information about yourself and your circumstances that prompted you to start therapy. You will begin to build a therapeutic alliance which is key to effective psychotherapy. You will set goals for therapy to create an effective treatment plan.

  • 45 - 60 minutes dependent on your health insurance plan.

  • Initially, it is recommended that clients meet on a weekly basis. However, dependent on your needs, you may meet with your Therapist more or less frequently.

  • Telehealth allows you to participate in therapy sessions, remotely, using a mobile device, laptop, or tablet. The management software that is used for telehealth services is SimplePractice which is secure and HIPAA compliant. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken all necessary precautions to protect the health of our clients by offering telehealth sessions.

  • Mental Health Professionals are required by law to maintain the privacy of Protected Health Information (PHI). In addition, we must provide you with notice of our legal duties and privacy practices with respect to PHI.

  • Health Insurance Benefits:

    Dependent on your health insurance plan, you will pay a

    co-payment (fixed fee that you are responsible to pay for therapy sessions),

    coinsurance (fixed percentage amount that you are responsible to pay for therapy sessions),

    deductible (amount of money you must pay out of pocket before your plan begins to pay for therapy sessions).

    We accept most major health insurance plans:

    Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, OPTUM, UMR, United Behavioral Health, and United Healthcare.

    Please call your health insurance company prior to your first appointment to verify your plan’s in-network and out-of-network benefits.

    Employee Benefits - EAP

    An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an employee benefit. Through an EAP, a limited number of FREE counseling sessions are available to both the employee and all members residing in the employee’s household.

    Please verify with your employer if you have an EAP.

    Standard Fees for Therapy:

    Intake session (initial assessment) - $220.00/hour

    Follow-up sessions: 45 minutes session - $150.00, 60 minutes session - $180.00

  • We accept the following payment methods: all major credit cards (i.e. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), Health Savings Account (HSA), Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), checks (personal check, cashier’s check, money order), and cash.

  • You must cancel your appointment at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. If you “no show” or cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged a $90.00 broken appointment fee.

    Insurance companies will not pay for broken appointments.

  • Normal business hours are Monday-Friday (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.). If you are having a mental health emergency, please call Holly Hill Respond at (919) 250-7000 or go to your local emergency room and ask for the on-call psychiatrist.
