Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

A young couple sitting on a beige couch, talking to a therapist or counselor, who is holding a notepad, in a bright, modern room.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term and goal-oriented therapy that focuses on the client’s present and future circumstances. Unlike traditional therapy that takes time to analyze or explore problems from past experiences, SFBT concentrates on finding solutions in the present moment.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) offer SFBT as an employee benefit that is free to the employee and all household members residing in the employee’s home.

SFBT is used to effectively address a wide-range of issues including depression, anxiety, work-related stress, family concerns, parenting, grief, and addiction.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

A woman with dark hair and a beige shawl relaxing with her eyes closed on a beach during a peaceful moment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a treatment approach which helps people change unwanted, unhealthy behaviors by challenging their negative thought patterns or beliefs to see themselves and their circumstances more clearly.

CBT is an effective tool in therapy for treating a wide range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and grief.

Expressive Arts Therapy

A young girl with curly hair, wearing a red shirt, smiling while painting abstract colorful strokes on a white canvas with acrylic paints.

Expressive Arts Therapy is the use of creative arts (i.e. writing, poetry, art, music, or drama) as a form of therapy. This form of treatment allows individuals to process or express their thoughts and feelings that may be too difficult to put in words.

Expressive Arts Therapy is often used in conjunction with other psychotherapy techniques to help promote growth and healing.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

A woman with long hair enjoying the beach, arms outstretched, smiling with her eyes closed, wearing a white dress, near the ocean with a sandy shoreline and blue sky.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an Energy Psychology technique that is also referred to as “tapping” or “psychological acupressure.”  It is as an alternative treatment for emotional distress and physical pain. When tapping, you use your fingertips to lightly tap on nine specific acupressure points on your upper body (i.e. eyebrows, chin, collarbone, etc.) In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is believed that these are meridian points where energy flows.

Several recent studies show evidence that people who used tapping experienced a significant decrease in symptoms for anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD.)

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

A silhouette of a woman jumping with her arm raised, holding onto a chain on the left side of the image, during a sunset with a colorful sky and birds flying in the background.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is an interactive psychotherapy technique that helps individuals process distressing thoughts, feelings, and memories related to a disturbing life event.

EMDR is an evidence-based treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

It is recognized as an effective form of treatment by at least 14 health organizations including the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization, and the Department of Defense.

Reiki

A woman with curly hair closing her eyes and smiling softly, touching her chest with both hands in front of a plain light gray background.

Tanza is also a Reiki Master Practitioner. “Reiki” is an energy healing treatment that is used to promote one’s overall health - mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Reiki is now increasingly being offered in major hospitals, cancer treatment centers, and private settings in the United States as a complimentary and integrative therapy to help accelerate healing, reduce stress and tension, and alleviate pain.
